RAM Gallery

460 Washington Street, Newark

Art in the Atrium, Inc. (ATA) and the Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD) are proud to announce the opening of Newark’s newest African-American contemporary art space, the Russell Aldo Murray Gallery (RAM Gallery), located on two stories in the green, sustainable townhomes at 460 Washington Street in the dynamic Lincoln Park section of Newark.  ATA has been the leader in exhibiting fine African-American art in New Jersey for the last eighteen (18) years, and LPCCD is reinvigorating the historic Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District into an urban eco-arts district in Newark.  Calling upon the spirit of the jazz clubs that lined the block during the 1920′s, the Russell Aldo Murray Gallery is set to be the freshest gallery and event loft space in the city.  In fact, the Russell Aldo Murray Gallery will be the only fine art gallery in the city of Newark with its primary focus being African-American fine art.  The Russell Aldo Murray Gallery opened on March 1, 2010 and will hold its dedication/ribbon-cutting on April 23, 2010.

Russell Aldo Murray
1950 – 2009

Art in the Atriu m remembers its co-founder and board member, gifted artist, ardent arts advocate and inspiring teacher, Russell Aldo Murray.  ATA is deeply saddened by the loss of his generous light, dear friendship, humor and wit. ATA is a much better organization because of his tireless efforts on our behalf. We will forever have a hole, not only in our hearts, but in the place that his contribution would have filled…
